Isla Mujeres is one of the favorite islands in Latin America, noted for being a peaceful and relaxing place surrounded by coral reefs and impressive cliffs. The best thing is that it’s only 35 minutes away from Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres Resort & Spa and TRS Coral Hotel.

One of the benefits of being a Palladium Travel Club member is the possibility of going to different Home Tours, one of them being Isla Mujeres, in which you can snorkel in a beautiful reef, afterwards they take you downtown so you can eat, shop or explore the island.

Here are some tips to make the most of your visit:

1.Snorkel in reefs

This attraction is included in the home tour, it consists of snorkeling in approximately 3 meters of depth, there you can find various species that fill the seabed with color. In addition, it is one of the favorite places for those who seek to discover the wonderful underwater world.

2. Relax and tan at Playa Norte

On this beach you can enjoy the beautiful turquoise waters and don’t worry if you can’t swim, the depth of the sea is very shallow and its waves are very calm so you can walk several meters inwards without problem; you can also enjoy the most beautiful sunsets in the Caribbean.

3. Try local food

There are several places to eat delicious fresh fish and shellfish, we recommend you try the Tixin-Xic fish, it is a fish cooked on the grill with a traditional sauce called recado that is used in the region to season fish.

4. Visita the underwater museum “Musa”

It is a place where you will find more than 400 submerged statues under the sea which house life that helps preserve the coral. You can visit them with different tours throughout the island and it is definitely an ideal experience for art lovers. It’s definitely an activity that you can’t miss!

5. Visit Hacienda Mundaca

Founded by Fermín Antonio Mundaca, a former mercenary and explorer who built the hacienda in honor of his beloved. This beautiful structure from the 19th century that perfectly mixes history with nature. Hacienda Mundaca is a place full of legends that are combined with the tropical nature of Isla Mujeres.

6. Admire the cliffs at Punta Sur

Also you can’t miss the incredible views of the sea from 20 meter high stone cliffs in Punta Sur. Here you can also find the temple of the goddess Ixchel, a deity venerated by the ancient Mayan civilization. In addition, you can close the trip eating exquisite dishes at El Acantilado.

7. Rent a golf cart

Rent a golf cart and enjoy the island traveling its 7 km long. There is no better way to get to know the whole island and not miss its wonders than with a golf cart. That way you can relax in Playa Norte, then move to Punta Sur to see the cliffs.

If you do not have time to do all these activities during the home tour, we recommend you book the full day tour with our Destinations Services colleagues who are in the Costa Mujeres lobby.
